Left Paris by train, off to Caen in the northwest. Smooth and relaxing trip once we found our way to the right station and platform. Small drama over the car - previous driver had left the lights on and flattened the battery, so quick shuffle to find us another one (a VW Polo).
Somewhat stressful heading out of Caen and finding our way to the tiny village of Dragey - Col probably won't admit to it :) but we did have some tension over the windscreen wipers and indicators (and my shrieking, 'You're too far to the right!' at regular intervals...)
The B&B was absolute magic after that - incredibly quiet and pitch black at night after all the Paris rumpus. Owned by a lovely energetic little Frenchwoman, Florence, who was more than helpful with suggestions of what to see.

Several days later...
No internet for the last couple of days, so even further behind with the photos! and thank you for the messages...
A few pics below from Mont St Michel, which speak for themselves - overwhelmingly beautiful, even with the crowds.

Traditional way for pilgrims to reach the Abbey - on foot across the bay (carefully...see sign below!)
Miscellaneous photos from around the region
Beach karting
Foie gras farm (from the car window)
Col looking out over the bay of Mont St Michel (not a place for a casual walk - see below)
Sunset over the bay (not digitally enhanced!)

Alors! Vous n'êtes pas allés sous les rues dans le Musée des Égouts de Paris?? Vous avez manqué une expérience magnifique!!
Je suis plais que vous aimez la France. Les beaux photographies.
Hi there!
Lovely to share in your travels! What a trip you are having. Through all those drives with your French CD playing Leanne, you knew where you were heading. Voila!
Karen
All over the UK I signalled turns by switching on the windscreen wipers until I finally mastered the skill - only to return home and do the same thing with my own car. aagh. By the way is "Engueulades" with a soft "g" or a hard "g" - as in: gee, were you/we supposed to take that last exit?
Hi Rob,
yes, disappointing I know - but given our limited time we chose to go to the Louvre rather than the Paris Sewer Museum. We're saving that for next time :)
Glad you like the photos - and I'm impressed by the French!
Cheers, Leanne
Thanks Karen - love that 'Voila!' It's used all the time - kind of a cross between 'here you go, love' and 'ta da!' with trumpets.
Have been trying to catch up on my blogging over the last couple of days because we've had to do a couple of stretches on the motorways and there's been less to look at - so have been scratching out notes to type up before bedtime. Could get even further behind tomorrow as we leave France for the Cinque Terre! Will compare notes with your visit when we get home :)
Luv Leanne
